This position serves as a trusted advisor and people strategist to business leaders, ensuring workforce strategies align with organizational objectives. As the People and Culture liaison for the Chicago, IL campus this role champions effective practices that support business performance, strong employee engagement, and culture. This position supports the employee experience at the campus by designing employee-facing programs and activities, facilitating employee feedback, assisting in the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs, and serving as a liaison and support person for Benefits, Payroll, People Systems, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Compensation, and Employment while collaborating with other members of the ArcBest People and Culture team. Aligned with a specific business unit or function, this role leads the creation and execution of a cohesive People and Culture strategy and partners with leaders to address critical talent needs to enable long-term success by supporting a consistent, compliant, and high-impact culture.

Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with leaders, providing strategic counsel on organizational effectiveness, talent, and change management.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies, programs, and practices in alignment with company values and legal requirements.
- Act as a liaison between the business, People & Culture, and centers of excellence to ensure services align with business needs.
- Support talent lifecycle activities including recruiting support, onboarding, internal movement, and retention initiatives.
- Partner with HR Compliance on compliance-related matters, as needed.
- Lead and support local and enterprise-wide HR projects and initiatives.
- Assess business performance objectives to identify organizational and talent gaps and implement solutions such as organizational design, process improvements, coaching, and training.
- Identify and share best practices cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead and advocate for talent management, development, and succession planning to strengthen leadership capability and leadership pipeline.
- Analyze workforce data and trends to forecast labor needs, inform workforce planning decisions, and support leadership readiness discussions.
- Partner with leaders to design and implement development programs for high-potential employees.
- Align performance management and reward strategies to reinforce engagement, innovation, and results.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance management, engagement, and change management.
- Coach leaders to strengthen leadership effectiveness, communication, feedback, and cross-team collaboration.
- Lead employ engagement, recognition, and appreciation initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging employee experience.
- Facilitate employee listening strategies (surveys, focus groups, feedback forums) and partner with leaders on action planning.
- Facilitate campus-specific internal communications.
- Prepare reports, analyze data, and provide insights to senior leadership.
- Respond to general HR inquiries and route requests appropriately.
- Other duties and projects, as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree, required.
- Master's Degree, preferred.
- 3 years of experience in Human Resources or other relevant experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
