Job Description
Work as team leader to manage supervisors, dock, street, and yard employees of a service center. Maximize profitability and business growth, and provide superior customer service. Work with Branch Manager to meet all terminal operations and sales goals.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment
  • Communicate with touch labor and supervisory personnel on terminal and company issues and utilize feedback to promote teamwork and employee morale
  • Discharge union employees after performing due diligence
  • Address issues involving customer relations and/or other ABF service centers
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Ensure security, maintenance, and upkeep of the terminal facility
  • Work with Regional Maintenance Superintendent to facilitate equipment maintenance and repairs, and purchase dock supplies
  • Maintain relationships with outside vendors
  • Motivate, counsel, coach, and discipline touch labor, and motivate, counsel, coach, and develop operations supervisors as future leaders for management teams
  • Enforce company policy and procedures, and continually apply the quality process
  • Address unproductive or problem employees
  • Apply contractual labor rules to touch labor, union employees, and various others, and maintain labor relations with input and support of Industrial Relations
  • Set touch labor, and supervisor work scheduling with Branch Manager oversight
  • Represent ABF at grievance, UCI, and Workers Compensation hearings, as needed
  • Maximize equipment efficiency and utilization and reduce operating cost per mile
  • Provide operations information to Branch Manager, and work with Branch Manager to monitor terminal operations, and improve profitability
  • Ensure touch labor shift is adequately supervised, and fill in for absent supervisor, as necessary

Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred
  • High School Diploma, required
Experience:
  • Field operations experience
  • Computer and analytical skills
  • Superior leadership skills
  • Available 24/7 to handle any terminal issues that require management intervention
  • Must be detail oriented and enjoy a fast paced, multi-tasking, customer service minded environment
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications and organizational skills
  • Must display sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail

Other Details
Work Hours:
  • Generally, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.
Compensation:
  • This is a salary position paid biweekly.
  • Variable compensation is included.
