Job Description
The Truckload Account Specialist I, focused on small to medium-sized business (SMB), is responsible for the service and the performance of an existing portfolio of customer accounts. These customers are companies with truckload transportation needs, and we collaborate with carrier partners to provide effective transportation solutions. The focus of this position involves enhancing the customer service aspect of our operations and executing daily tasks related to customer shipments. This includes using our transportation management software to input shipping details, schedule shipments, track deliveries, provide issue resolution, and ensure the accuracy of shipment data. The responsibilities of the Truckload Account Specialist I encompass developing proficiency in freight fundamentals, understanding market behaviors, and honing negotiation skills. Additionally, this position serves as a point of contact for contacts across the account portfolio, fostering trustworthy, and long-term relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify issues and resolve problems and incidents.
  • Audit and update shipment data for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, Carrier Sales, Yield, Truckload Strategy, Business Development, and Accounting to optimize the success of the customer account.
  • Build strong customer relationships through communication and provide the highest quality of service.
  • Utilize scheduling systems to schedule the pickup and delivery appointments for the shipments.
  • Develop freight market knowledge, stay updated on industry trends, and use pricing tools to spot quote shipments.
  • Collaborate with and support Truckload Account Specialist I, II, III on applicable accounts.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.
  • Ensure shipment details are accurately entered into the transportation management software.
  • Prioritize and respond to internal and external requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide administrative support and back up support for the Truckload Account Development team.
  • Follow accounting protocols to ensure accurate collections.
  • Follow customers' contract commitments and make tender acceptance decisions accordingly.

Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred
Experience:
  • Customer service, account management, sales, or a related field, preferred
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, preferred

Work Hours:
  • Work hours vary based on scheduling to provide market coverage during normal business hours.
Compensation:
  • This is a salary position paid biweekly.
  • Variable compensation is included.

Location: Chicago, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Nashville or remote
