Job Description
The Regional Manager, Employee Relations represents management at local and area levels to maintain good labor relations among employee bargaining units. Administer the contract grievance machinery and departmental policies in an assigned area. Serve as a negotiator of labor contracts and staffing of the grievance committees.

Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
- Negotiation with labor union representatives on behalf of ABF and multi-employer bargaining units of which ABF is a member.
- Meet with bargaining unit employees, advise, and recommend operating procedures and provide counsel and assist in preparations in changes of operations.
- Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
- Serve as a panel member of various joint labor management grievance panels/committees.
- Analyze, investigate, discuss, and propose disposition of grievances submitted by bargaining unit employees. Present arguments to joint labor management grievance committees, when necessary.
- Educate and counsel management, and issue information and instructions on application of labor contracts and department policy.
- Other duties and projects, as assigned.
- Establish and maintain rapport with union officials and officials of other companies.
- Administer department policies.
- Handle labor contract compliance matters, including settlement of grievances.
- Investigate and answer National Labor Relations Board charges and assist attorneys in litigation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferred
- 2 years of Employee Relations experience in a Unionized environment, preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of/experience with labor contracts and their interpretations, precedents in grievances, and labor law, ABF's phases of administration and operation, and the effects of labor contracts and department policies on these phases, preferred
- Ability to establish relationships with labor scene leaders and understand their political motivation.
- Interpersonal and persuasion skills, and the ability to establish and maintain rapport.
- Available to be on call 24/7 and travel extensively.

Other Details
- Generally, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.
- This is a salary position paid biweekly.
