Job Description
The Senior Manager, Operations for ArcBest Technologies' Vaux/Intralogistics division is responsible for leading and integrating all operations functions related to quality assurance, new product introduction (i.e., manufacturing engineering), manufacturing and production, inventory, equipment support, and industrial safety. This role ensures that ArcBest's advanced intralogistics systems-including robotics, mobile platforms, and the Vaux Freight Movement System-are developed, deployed, and maintained to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This position requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can align cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and ensure operational excellence across the product lifecycle-from supplier engagement and system deployment to quality inspection and safety compliance.
The Senior Manager, Operations for ArcBest Technologies' Vaux/Intralogistics division is responsible for leading and integrating all operations functions related to quality assurance, new product introduction (i.e., manufacturing engineering), manufacturing and production, inventory, equipment support, and industrial safety. This role ensures that ArcBest's advanced intralogistics systems-including robotics, mobile platforms, and the Vaux Freight Movement System-are developed, deployed, and maintained to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This position requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can align cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and ensure operational excellence across the product lifecycle-from supplier engagement and system deployment to quality inspection and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee teams responsible for new product introduction, manufacturing and production, inventory, equipment support, and industrial safety and quality.
- Lead the team responsible for the handoff between R&D engineering and production manufacturing.
- Oversee the manufacturing and production team responsible for metal fabrication, as well as the team producing and integrating the Vaux sensor suite on forklift trucks, including refurbishment and repair.
- Monitor equipment, asset, and product inventory.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment used in our facilities.
- Lead teams responsible for continuous improvement, industrial safety, supplier performance (performance evaluations and compliance with quality standards), and product quality, including hardware, software, and firmware quality.
- Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to integrate quality and safety standards into product design, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure all equipment and systems meet internal and external safety and quality requirements, including adherence to global safety standards.
- Guide the development and execution of quality assurance programs, including inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the Deployment and Customer Success teams, delivering high quality units on time
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and accountability across all supervised teams.
- Mentor and develop team members, promoting cross-functional collaboration and professional growth.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Other duties and projects, as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field, required.
Experience
- 10+ years progressive leadership experience in operations, quality, or supply chain within a manufacturing or technology environment, preferred.
- Proven success in managing cross-functional teams and complex technical operations.
- Experience with robotics, automation, or intralogistics systems, preferred.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and operational tools (e.g., ERP, inventory systems, QA platforms).
Additional Requirements
- Deep understanding of quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001), safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508), and procurement best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Certifications
- Advanced degree or certifications in Quality, Safety, or Operations Management, preferred.
