Job Description
The Safety and Security Officer collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures. This position will develop formal project plans and collaborate with vendors to meet project deliverables. This position implements the safety and security programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment. The Safety and Security Officer also answers inquiries and provides information to the public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at the establishment and location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clear and concise project and solution definition, scope, timeline, action plans, and communication, including schedule, design, and risks.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors to meet project deliverables within a strict budget and communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely, efficient, and clear fashion.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding CDC guidelines regarding Public Health crises.
  • Provide campus tours as needed or requested.
  • Secure perimeter of campus buildings.
  • Coordinate site visits and travel with implementation team as needed throughout the discovery and implementation processes.
  • Respond to incidents and provide accurate documentation including verbal and written reports of incidents to necessary personnel and/or authorities.
  • Communicate project expectations in a timely and clear fashion and track project deliverables.
  • Acquire team resources and coordinate team efforts in order to deliver results on projects/processes.
  • Determine the optimal course of action with regard to solution design and implementation plans and manage project to ensure goals are achieved efficiently and timely.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.
  • Collaborate with various teams and departments as needed.
  • Operate and maintain security systems, access control, and CCTV recordings.
  • Conduct safety and security checks of campus locations.
  • Alert police of any elevated threats that may occur.
  • Patrol buildings, and other related duties as assigned.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify areas of concern and develop fact-based improvement activities.
  • Maintain momentum despite tight deadlines and resource constraints.
  • Develop formal project plans, proposals, and communications, as necessary, given specific requirements and expectations.
  • Be professional in appearance and in interactions with others.
  • Operate telephone system to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information and taking messages.
  • Activate emergency response notifications as applicable.
  • Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and maintain appropriate visitor logs.
  • Investigate reports of suspicious activities or disruptions occurring on property and notify proper responding authority.
  • Coordinate and direct building evacuations in emergency situations.
  • Identify, lead, and manage projects related to the improvement of (safe room installations, safety projects, etc.).

Requirements
Education:
  • High School Diploma / GED, required
Experience:
  • 5 years Law enforcement/security experience, preferred
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Upon Hire, required
Additional Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer. Upon Hire, required
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time. Upon Hire, required

Other Details
Work Hours:
  • Full-Time: Generally, between 7:00 am - 6:00 pm with occasional irregular hours
  • depending on workload.
Compensation:
  • This is a salary position paid biweekly.
