Job Description
The Production Control Specialist's primary responsibility is working with programming staff to schedule and install complex systems into production and to assure that all batch jobs are completed successfully, as well as manage rerun and restart of failed batch jobs. This position supervises Data Center staff and assures that all batch jobs are run, and reports distributed to customers when Manager, Data Center is absent, both within ArcBest and its subsidiaries as well as AB Tech's outside customers.

This position supervises Data Center staff and assures that all batch jobs are run, and reports distributed to customers when Manager, Data Center is absent, both within ArcBest and its subsidiaries as well as AB Tech's outside customers.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for completion of daily batch schedule and problem resolution when jobs fail.
- Works with programming staff to resolve problems and restart/rerun of batch jobs.
- Establishes training program for new staff and ongoing training for existing staff in scheduling, rerun/restart, and data retention requirements.
- Monitors and analyzes performance metrics, and advises the Manager of problems or potential problems.
- Coordinate consultation with other functional areas of the corporate family when necessary to obtain advice and assistance.
- Monitor building systems (fire suppression, power, HVAC) and take appropriate action in emergencies.
- Monitor nightly backups of disaster recovery data and ensure all data is transported offsite in a safe and timely manner.
- Advise the Manager on the review, approval, and administration of systems standards, documentation, and Computer Center processes and procedures.
- Manage virtual and physical tape library and system catalog to assure all data is secure and kept for the correct length of time.
- Work with both inside and outside corporate auditors to assure all required procedures are being followed for business continuity and the security of corporate data.

Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent field, preferred
- 5 years of experience in related field preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, required
- Detailed knowledge of mainframe operating environment and all software and hardware associated with this environment, required
- Detailed knowledge of Zeke and Zebb scheduling and rerun software, required
- Understanding of AB Tech IT environment, standards, and procedures.
- Understanding of the work environment of ArcBest and all subsidiaries.

Work Hours:
- Generally, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.
- Minimal
- This is a salary position paid biweekly.
