Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Robotics Software Engineer Intern is the research and development of new technologies. This position is involved in the research, development and prototyping of autonomous systems encompassing areas such as computer vision, object recognition, path planning and following.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
  • Perform ad-hoc requests to review, develop, and/or analyze operational or department-specific processes.
  • Assist in the setup and maintain, design of Software Modules and overall Architecture.
  • Manage a research project during the internship that focuses on key R&D problems.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or related field, preferred
  • Superior academic and leadership achievements, preferred
Experience:
  • Prior hands-on experience with robots including grounds robots, self-driving cars, quadrotors, robotic arms, and/or mobile robots.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient with C++ and Python.
  • Prior experience developing in Linux environment.
Additional Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of ROS, RViz, Gazebo, OpenCV, and PCL.
  • Familiar with AI/ML concepts.

Other Details
Work Hours:
  • This is a temporary onsite intern position for summer 2026 located in Fort Smith, Arkansas, starting approximately June 1, 2026. Work schedule will generally fall between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.
Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal (0%-25%)
Compensation:
  • This is an hourly position paid biweekly.
