The Human Resources Specialist provides a unique service through special knowledge, skill, and experience. This position provides support in functional areas of Human Resources (HR), including onboarding, as well as administrative support of the daily operations of the HR department. The Human Resources Specialist requires extensive contact with the various departments at the corporate level as well as with subsidiaries.

Responsibilities
- Provide campus tours as needed or requested.
- Ensure federal compliance by verifying employment eligibility of all new employees with form I-9 and E-Verify.
- Maintain and distribute new hire welcome guides.
- Provide guidance and assistance on human resources policies, procedures, and standards to current and potential employees.
- Confirm pre-employment requirements are met, initiate new hire process including onboarding, and communicate first day job expectations to new hires.
- Conduct and evaluate background investigations for potential hires.
- Create pre-employment screening packets and coordinate delivery to ABF Hiring events.
- Schedule pre-employment drug screens and physical exams for potential hires.
- Other duties and projects, as assigned.
- Maintain confidential employee records.
- Communicate with applicant, training teams, and ABF leadership to assist with Driver Development Program openings.
- Lead new hire orientations to build a strong foundation for new employees.
- Ensure applicants have proper DOT license and required endorsements.
- Process, review, and provide guidance to leadership regarding MVR reports.
- Transfer applicant data from recruiting platform to create pre-hire record in Workday.
- Provide guidance to field personnel related to DOT drug and alcohol program.
- Create a positive experience for all new employees to support the employee engagement initiatives.
- Review and communicate daily pre-employment drug results.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred
- Knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources, preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Hours:
- Generally, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.
