Currently, we are looking for the next Electrical Maintenance Technician I to join the ArcBest team.

The primary responsibility of the Electrical Maintenance Technician is to ensure the Data Center's mainframe systems operate with optimal efficiency and effectiveness, mitigating the risk of any malfunctions. This position also plans, installs, and operates corporate systems, equipment and the Data Center related to physical equipment layout, HVAC, fire detection and suppression, building entry systems, security monitoring systems, elevators, electrical supply service and circuits, and power protection equipment and emergency power. The Electrical Maintenance Technician evaluates needs and requirements, recommends, procures, designs, and ensures quality fabrication, testing, installation, and maintenance of special and/or unique electronic, electrical and/or mechanical circuits, systems, equipment, fixtures, and devices for in-house company use.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician assists in maintaining the integrity, repair, and utility of non-EDP equipment as well as providing the Company with quality Building System Services and providing personnel with adequate, comfortable, appropriate, useful and reliable facilities and equipment with which the goals of the Company can be met.

Your contribution may include:
  • Manage the HVAC building automation system, and system maintenance to include fire suppression (sprinkler and gaseous systems) and security systems (CCTV and RFID).
  • Upkeep and maintain the power from provider and generator/UPS systems (Corporate Offices and ABF Service Centers) as well as lighting (interior and exterior of buildings).
  • Collaborate with Data Center support systems (power, HVAC, fire protection, etc.).
  • Assist in managing projects in general construction.
  • Evaluate new technology.
  • Assist with vendor selection and management.
  • Work alongside vendors and contractors.
  • Evaluate the development of tactics to reduce utility expenses.
  • Build and modify modular workstations and manage workstation parts inventory.
  • Perform major and minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing maintenance work.
  • Perform outside maintenance on systems, gates, security equipment, parking lots, etc.
  • Assist Corporate Services personnel with various projects as needed.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As the next Electrical Maintenance Technician I, you will be a member of the ArcBest team. Work schedule: Generally, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.

Education
  • Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Electronics Technology, or a Technical School certificate/degree. Preferred
Experience
  • 3 years of experience in building systems maintenance in commercial buildings with Data Centers.
  • Experience with building automation or industrial controls.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient with Carrier i-Vu/Niagra Building Automation Software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge of Commercial HVAC operation and repair procedures.
  • General working knowledge of building HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handlers, electronic controls, and all related sensors and control systems.
  • General working knowledge of the unique HVAC systems and components necessary to provide and support the required environment for a large data center operation.
  • General working knowledge of building electrical power systems, including power utility integration, switching and distribution components, circuit protection systems, generators and related control systems, UPS systems, and all related monitoring and control systems, as well as the codes and regulations that relate to such systems.
  • General working knowledge of fire detection, suppression, and prevention systems, including sprinkler, gaseous discharge fire suppression systems, gaseous discharge fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, alarm systems, pumps, valves and all other components for the fire systems in the building in general and the data center specifically, including the codes and regulations that relate to such systems.
Certifications:
  • Licensed Electrician Required
