Job Description
The Intern, Carrier Sales gains practical sales experience by developing and managing relationships with transportation providers (carriers) to coordinate the movement of our customers' shipments. The Intern, Carrier Sales learns about the logistics industry, how to use the transportation management software, and effective sales techniques for building strong carrier partnerships through our comprehensive training program. Through hands-on experience and guidance from a mentor, this role learns to prospect new carriers and execute operational tasks to deliver excellent customer service. This role collaborates with various departments, engages with key personnel, and completes a business project. Our internship program provides a valuable opportunity to enhance skills, contribute to the Carrier Sales team's success, and gain insights into the logistics industry.

Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with key contacts, including dispatchers and drivers.
  • Assist a Carrier Sales mentor to execute operational tasks.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.
  • Proactively identify issues and resolve problems to maintain excellent customer service.
  • Develop negotiation skills to secure carrier partnerships.
  • Learn sales techniques and gain hands-on experience.
  • Collaborate with your mentor, communicate across departments, and engage with leadership.
  • Accurately communicate shipment details to carriers and enter data into the transportation management system.
  • Prospect new carriers through lead generation, research, and cold calling.
  • Participate in the internship speaker series, attend internship events, and complete a project.
  • Track shipments to ensure timely pickup and delivery.

Requirements
Education:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's Degree Undergraduate education at a Junior level standing, preferred
Computer Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Other Details
Work Hours:
  • This is a part time internship position starting in May through the summer that will average 30-40 hours per week. Typical hours will fall between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during the summer months.
Compensation:
  • This is a salary position paid biweekly.
